I say none of the following in any sort of jest or in any attempt to belittle your feelings on the issue. But the reality is that people lose their hard earned stuff all the time in this game, whether its an outpost or a pimped out ship. A lot of alliances have lost stuff they worked very hard for since this war began, as well as during the war before this one.
Take Intrepid Crossing. Stand-up guys. Built two outposts in Feythabolis when they were with Ascendant Frontier. Made a deal with BoB to keep them, and then joined the Coalition and were ultimately removed. They worked hard for their outposts and they did everything they could to hold onto them, but ultimately couldn't.
You should've gone into the whole thing knowing that it could be taken away from you at a moment's notice. You can try to qualify it by arguing that it would be fine if you were invaded instead of simply being told to leave by BoB, but you could've chosen to stand and fight. It probably would have ended quickly, and maybe you felt you had no choice since Xelas was capitulating as a whole, but it might have felt a little better in the long run.
The fact that you didn't have an independently good relationship with BoB is just your own fault. You can't expect BoB to care about individual corps within an alliance or even have a clue as to your role. Even if some of BoB had a relationship directly with your corp, you should've made pains to make sure that goodwill went straight to the top and you should've been making moves to survive the fall of Xelas a long time ago. Otherwise you should've been aware that what happens to Xelas happens to you. There are dozens, if not hundreds of corps, within the Alliance. They aren't going to know you just because you contributed a lot to Xelas.
In the end, if you weren't enjoying what you were doing you should not have been doing it at all. You can't assume you can keep what you build. It's the same as the number rule about not flying what you can't afford to lose. You shouldn't build what you can't afford to lose either. At any time things can hit the fan and you have to always be aware of that.
